Dr. Evelyn L. Ogletree, Executive Pastor of First Metropolitan Church (Houston, TX), affectionately known as Lady O, was born in Tyler, Texas but grew up in Dallas.  She has always had a close relationship with the Lord and a special anointing which is revealed in her personal life, her ministry, and her ability to teach, preach, mentor, lead, counsel, and organize.God has graced her to reach women of all ages, stages and races. She faithfully serves with her husband to lead the First Metropolitan Church family. Her joy is being married to her childhood sweetheart for 40 years; Pastor John D. Ogletree, Jr, raising 4 college graduates who along with their spouses have blessed with 11 grandchildren. Her ministry to her family has equipped her to speak to all issues of life!

 

In December of 2012, Lady O received her Doctorate Degree from Texas A&M University in Urban Education!  Her dissertation researched the Voices of African American Female Pastors.  She plans to write a book in the near future on female leadership in the church.  Her education includes a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Prairie View A&M University and a Bachelor’s Degree from Texas Southern University.  Lady O served as a school teacher and counselor for several school districts in the Houston metropolitan area for over 15 years. In 1999, she left public education for full time ministry.

 

Her leadership gifts led her to the position of Executive Pastor.  As Executive Pastor, Lady O oversees the administrative and ministry operation of the church.  She assists her husband in other pastoral duties as needed and seeks to foster unity, structure and excellence in the First Met Church Family.  She also serves as Director of the Infant Development Center (IDC) and Christian Academy; where she directs quality Christian child care for children ages 6 weeks to five years of age, along with an after-school program.

 

The annual women’s conference Women At the Feet of Jesus was birthed through Lady O’s vision to help hurting women.  This conference has been strategically designed to change the lives of women by addressing real life issues and providing real solutions they can understand and apply to their lives. She also leads a Wednesday night Bible study and a Christian talk show entitled, His View.  Each year she leads the women in planning the event and closes the conference with a special message from the Lord.  Special emphasis is placed on transforming the lives of these women.  She ministers at other women’s conferences and has taught seminars on subjects such as Faith, Prayer, Spiritual Warfare, Forgiveness, Moving Beyond Your Past, Marriage and the Family, as well as Child Rearing. She does personal consultations for Ministers' and Pastors' wives.  Her gifting has taken her in minister in Brazil, Colombia and Kenya. Her mission in life is devoted to addressing issues concerning today's woman in the U.S. and abroad.

 

Lady O’s passion is to see women move from their Detours and Dreams to their Divine Destiny!  Her favorite scripture is: -“But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you.  Matthew 6:33 (NKJV)
